High Babaji
This poster is a reflection of many experiences in the past from growing up in Patan, to a recent short visit to Janakpur. The Babaji illustration refers to the painted wooden masks that are seen in tourist markets, but whose origins are doubtful. The text refers to a greeting paying homage to the warm welcoming of guests, but instead of the traditional 'namaste' it is replaced by a Western one. Together, the Babaji and the text also refer to a mental state. The colors and typographic treatment are derived from the practice of signpainting, expressed throughout the country and in the region, but taking specific reference to a style seen in Janakpur, along with the shape of the arches at the Janaki Mandir.
